BioFortis Presents with Merck Research Labs on Groundbreaking Informatics Solutions
at GTCbio's 3rd Annual Rediscovering Biomarkers Conference
Columbia, MD - July 9, 2009 - BioFortis, Inc., a leading provider of biomedical informatics solutions and Merck Research Labs, a global leader in pharmaceutical research, today presented their ongoing collaboration and innovative approaches to biomarker discovery at the 3rd Annual "Rediscovering Biomarkers" Conference in San Diego, CA. Merck formed a collaboration with the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center several years ago to discover biomarker signatures that are present in cancer patients, with a long-term goal to improve personalized medical care. Such large scale projects typically encounter numerous issues that prevent scientists from querying and exploring the data directly, which results in long lead times and less exploration of the data. Merck chose Labmatrix to remove these barriers, thereby helping Merck scientists to extract more value from the Merck-Moffitt investment.
Since adopting the Labmatrix&trade solution in 2008, Merck has been working closely with BioFortis to address these challenges and establish a "one-stop shop" for biomarker and translational research data. Using the specialized query capabilities in Labmatrix, Merck researchers are given controlled access to clinical data for quicker identification & validation of biomarker signatures, which enables better design of clinical trials and targeted patient enrollment.
