BioFortis' Translational Research Data Management Software Selected for Clinical Genetic Studies - Driving Personalized Medicine through Collaborative Translational Research

October 10th, 2006, Baltimore, MD –BioFortis’ software, Labmatrix™, will be used in a renowned medical center in San Francisco to manage clinical genetics research study data in the laboratories of leading human genetics researchers.

Study data to be managed in Labmatrix span an array of therapeutic areas, including primary immunodeficiencies, Parkinson’s disease as well as a number of X-linked syndromes. The studies are part of translational research efforts to assess the value of Personalized Medicine, the application of genetic and genomic approaches to improving patient care and provide new approaches for population screening, specific diagnosis, identification of genetic modifiers, and treatment. Use of Labmatrix will enable a multi-site collaboration between the university and labs at both NHGRI and NIAID in real time, while maintaining security and compliance with privacy regulations.

Labmatrix™ was developed in close collaboration with scientists at the NIH and other leading research institutions. Utilizing a disease-neutral design, Labmatrix supports current users at the forefront of biomedical research that conduct a wide range of studies spanning the range of human diseases, including those in immunology, oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, metabolism and other hereditary and sporadic disorders.
