TEDCO Funds BioFortis, Inc. with $75K for HL7 Interface

February 14th, 2006, Baltimore, MD --- Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) has allocated $75,000 in early-stage funding for BioFortis, Inc., to help it develop an HL7 messaging interface for Labmatrix™, BioFortis said today. The funding comes through TEDCO's Maryland Technology Transfer Fund, the company said.

Labmatrix™, an enterprise research information management software, is designed to manage clinical and molecular research data, seamlessly bridging the gap between clinic and laboratory. The HL7 interface will allow communication to and from electronic medical record and clinical information systems to Labmatrix™ for cross-silo analysis, a powerful feature of Labmatrix™ that facilitates translational medicine research initiatives. In addition to integrating clinical with molecular data, Labmatrix™ helps to simplify compliance with government regulations such as HIPAA and provides powerful collaborative research capabilities. Labmatrix™ serves clinical and basic research laboratories within academic medical centers, government labs, non-profit institutes, research consortia and the biopharmaceutical industry.
