BioFortis Secures Contract With National Human Genome Research Institute - Company to Provide Powerful Translational Research Software to NIH Institute

November 8th, 2005, Baltimore, MD -- BioFortis, a bioIT company, today announced that it had secured a contract to provide the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), with its web-based, enterprise translational research information management software product, Labmatrix™. Labmatrix™ enables users to seamlessly integrate clinical data with genomic and laboratory data.

This contract provides unlimited use by all NHGRI intramural researchers and their collaborators. The enterprise-wide rollout is accomplished after extensive user evaluation, as well as an IT audit to ascertain Labmatrix’ conformity to the security Certification & Accreditation (C&A) requirements mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services for computer systems managing sensitive information, including patient information.

"The relationship with NHGRI -- our first with a world-renowned research institute -- is a significant milestone for BioFortis, as it validates the efficacy and power of our software solution," said Dr. Jian Wang, the company's President and CEO. Dr. Wang also noted that senior management and users at NHGRI have found Labmatrix™ to be a very powerful tool, one that effectively bridges the gap between laboratory-based and patient-based research.

In addition to integrating clinical data with molecular data, Labmatrix™ helps to simplify compliance with government regulations such as HIPAA and provides powerful collaborative research capabilities. Labmatrix™ serves clinical and basic research laboratories within academic medical centers, government labs, non-profit institutes, research consortia and the biopharmaceutical industry.
