BioFortis, Inc. has an open Life Sciences Informatics Support Specialist position. The primary product platform is a web-based biomedical informatics software application.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze client data workflows & standard operating procedures
  • Manage client data transformations & migration of legacy data pools
  • Identify, report, and track software defects in multiple environments
  • Client support
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, engineering, or mathematics
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated; eager to learn
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with computer programming (SQL & Java preferred)
  • Basic understanding of life sciences technologies and data types
  • Experienced with enterprise database environments


Java Web Application Developer

BioFortis, Inc. has an open Web Application Developer position. The primary product platform is a web-based bioscience and clinical informatics software application currently deployed at major government and academic research institutes.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of web-based software components
  • Document product API and architecture
  • Design and implement automated tests to insure product quality
  • Aid the support team in customer-centric troubleshooting
Basic Requirements:
  • B.S. in Computer Science or related major
  • Strong Java and SQL programming skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Interest in working with cutting edge technologies
  • Highly motivated; eager to learn new skills
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with full life-cycle software development
  • Knowledge of object-oriented data modeling practices
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts
  • Experience with some of the following technologies:
    • Hibernate
    • Spring
    • HTML/Javascript
    • AJAX
    • XML
    • EJB
    • XUL
    • Eclipse
    • UML
    • JUnit
    • Subversion
  • Experience in Life Sciences or Biotechnology is a plus


Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)

BioFortis, Inc. has an open DBA position. The primary product platform is a web-based bioscience and clinical informatics software application currently deployed at major government, academic, and private research institutes.

Responsibilities:
  • Install and configure Oracle and SQLServer in hosted and enterprise environments.
  • Maintain and performance-tune existing customer databases.
  • Build and deploy databases for new customers.
  • Manage backup and recovery routines.
  • Load large datasets from various original formats.
  • Design and enhance data models for an object-oriented application platform.
Basic Requirements:
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related major
  • 5+ years of experience managing production Oracle databases
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented; capable of managing complex data models at many customer installations.
  • Interest in exploring cutting edge technologies
  • Highly motivated; eager to learn new skills
Desired Skills:
  • Oracle DBA Certification (version 9i or greater preferred)
  • Expertise in SQL and PL/SQL
  • Expertise in Windows, Linux, and Unix platforms
  • Experience with full life-cycle software development
  • Experience migrating from SQLServer to Oracle
  • Experience in the field of Bioinformatics
  • Knowledge of object-oriented data modeling practices
  • Experience with some of the following technologies:
    • MS SQL Server / TSQL
    • Hibernate or other ORM
    • Programming/scripting languages such as Java, VB, and Perl
    • Excel and Access
    • XML
    • Subversion
