BioFortis’ Research Data Management Software to be used for Translational and Clinical Genomic Research
Application for Genomics-based Personalized Healthcare

November 7th, 2006, Baltimore, MD – BioFortis’ research information software, Labmatrix™, has been selected to manage interdisciplinary translational and clinical human genetics and genomics study data by at a new research institute at one of the nation’s top 3 medical centers in Cleveland, Ohio. The one-year old institute, which encompasses both research and clinical care, focuses on translational genomic research. Labmatrix will aid in bringing together research scientists, clinicians, genetic counselors, laboratory research personnel and clinical research fellows across multiple disciplines to enhance patient care by managing data from leading investigations that will help tailor the clinical management of patients with specific genetic and genomic profiles. Labmatrix was the software of choice for such collaborative, genomic-based studies, due to its unique functionality to seamlessly merge clinical and molecular analytical data while maintaining an annotated biorepository for research specimens.

For effective genomics research, a flexible, yet user-friendly, broad database is required. After many months of searching and evaluating available databases, the institute was very satisfied that Labmatrix would meet their data management requirements for many years to come. “Because translational human genetics and genomics researchers work in collaborative groups and consortia, it was vital to find a database that is broad and universal,” states the institute director.

Labmatrix was developed in close collaboration with scientists at the NIH and other leading research institutions. Utilizing a disease-neutral design, Labmatrix supports current users at the forefront of biomedical research that conduct a wide range of studies spanning the range of human diseases, including those in immunology, oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, metabolism and other hereditary and sporadic disorders.
