Java Web Application Developer (posted 2012 Q1)

BioFortis, Inc. has an open Java Web Application Developer position. The primary product platform is a web-based bioscience and clinical informatics software application currently deployed at major government and academic research institutes.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of web-based software components
• Document product API and architecture
  
• Design and implement automated tests to insure product quality
• Aid the support team in customer-centric troubleshooting

Basic Requirements:

• B.S. in Computer Science or related major
• Strong Java and SQL programming skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Interest in working with cutting edge technologies
• Highly motivated; eager to learn new skills

Desired Skills:

• Experience with full life-cycle software development
• Knowledge of object-oriented data modeling practices
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts

QA Analyst (posted 2012 Q1)

We are looking for a QA Analyst who is self-motivated, thrives on challenges, and is ready to step up to the next career challenge.

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain manual and automated test cases from user stories, use cases, and discussions with software developers and business analysts.
• Execute manual and automated test cases to ensure the quality of each release.
• Communicate with other members of the team to ensure project objectives are met and identify risks.
• Work with cross functional groups to ensure that requirements are met.
• Identify and document defects found.
• Develop and execute test plans.
• Work with the QA team to improve quality assurance and testing processes, tools, methods and efficiency.

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of software testing or development experience, with background in QA methodologies and experience developing and executing test suites for software applications.
• Self motivated; able to work both independently and as part of a team, with a strong customer and user focus.
• Strong problem solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Commitment to keeping up with technology and sharing with others, and thriving on technical challenges.
• Experience with relational databases such as MS SQL Server and Oracle.
